Dr. David F. Scott, M.D. Joins Pivotal IDE Study
Spokane, WA – Board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. David F. Scott founder of Orthopaedic Specialty Clinic of Spokane, PLLC, his clinical practice for over 25 years has joined the Polymotion® Hip Resurfacing (PHR®) IDE study along with nine other leading clinical centres across the United States.
The Polymotion® Hip Resurfacing System is an investigational device designed for active patients seeking bone-conserving alternatives to traditional hip replacement. Unlike contemporary metal-on-metal technologies, the Polymotion® system combines a Vitamin E-infused polyethylene cup with a titanium-coated shell and a metal femoral cap, avoiding metal-on-metal articulation while maintaining excellent range of motion and implant stability.
“Having performed several hundred Metal-on-Metal hip resurfacing procedures during the peak of resurfacing in the mid-2000s, I made the decision to put the procedure on hold due to growing concerns about metal sensitivity. With advancements in implant technology, such as The Polymotion device, I am now excited to return to performing hip resurfacing and offering this option to patients once again.” Dr Scott said.
If successful, the Polymotion® Hip Resurfacing implant may eventually become available globally as a hip resurfacing device.
